“It is never too late to start” – your beauty begins with healthy-looking skin.
Whether you have an established skin care routine or a “soap & water” ritual at Hampshire Facial Aesthetics we can advise and improve on the way you look after your skin.
We are sure that you know that the skin is the largest organ of the human body.
The main function of the skin being PROTECTION. To protect the body from harmful extrinsic irritants such as bacteria and germ.
There are three layers of the skin responsible for the various functions.
The first layer is the epidermis which acts as a protective barrier; the middle layer is the dermis which contains collagen and elastin; and the third layer is the hypodermis which is a fatty layer.
Any abnormal changes in the skin function might lead to such conditions as dry skin, irritation, eczema, pigmentation, and premature aging (deep lines, wrinkles, skin laxity).
I always say to my patients that prevention is better than cure.
Firstly, it is important to cleanse your skin properly to remove germs, makeup, impurities, or any creams/serums you used at the night.
Secondly, avoid too much sun exposure and always use broad-spectrum SPF protection throughout the year. It will help to prevent skin hyperpigmentation and premature ageing. Moreover, a healthy diet and lifestyle can improve the skin barrier. Smoking destroys collagen and elastin and accelerates the ageing process.
And last but certainly not least see your aesthetic doctor to choose the correct skincare according to your age, skin type, and areas of concern. Nowadays, we have effective and evidence-based medical-grade skincare products which can restore the skin barrier, treat different skin conditions such as acne and even improve fine lines.
