Basic Examination

This includes a full oral screen for tooth decay, gum disease, diseases of the oral cavity lining and facial soft tissues, a cosmetic opinion including an orthodontic referral if necessary, tooth brushing instruction and dietary advice if required.

It will always start with a brief yet detailed assessment of general health as medical conditions, medications and allergies can have an effect on the procedures that may follow. Screening x rays are sometimes required to check in areas that cannot be directly seen (under and in-between teeth). We follow strict guidelines regarding the interval between screening x rays.

The dentist will then present the findings of the check-up, advise if treatment is required and suggest an appropriate time for the next check-up. The frequency of check-ups is based upon the risk of new problems occurring for that person, usually between 3 and 12 months and again we closely follow guidelines regarding this. Any proposed treatment will have all the options explained in a way you can understand and be accompanied by a written treatment plan. We aim for you to be empowered to make the right treatment choice for yourself.

We have no targets at Gwynne Dental and are only incentivised to do what is right for you as a patient. Your complete satisfaction with us is the most important factor to us.
